Rockstar Series: Celebrating London Tech Week with Michael Tobin OBE

The next in our Rockstar Series of 2022 and in celebration of London Tech Week, our flagship event welcoming entrepreneurs such as Levi Roots, Kelly Hoppen and Richard Farleigh to name but a few.
This time we welcome Michael Tobin OBE. Michael, serial technology entrepreneur, philanthropist and former ‘maverick’ CEO of Telecity Group. Michael is best known for turning Telecity into a billion dollar company, and more recently has moonlighted as a philanthropist and author.
Michael shares the story of tough beginnings, then beginning his career with an electronic engineering apprenticeship, continuing to progress his career, to the point of leading a tech business that was eventually sold for £2.6 billion.
Michael will share his unusual yet effective leadership style which has involved getting his team to swim with sharks, and direct approach that has led to many calling him the Maverick Entrepreneur as well as delving into the importance of setting a vision and belief in ‘no fear’ culture.
Michael has been awarded numerous awards, as well as being being awarded an OBE for his ‘Services to the Digital Economy’ in 2014 in The Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Michael is now the Co-Founder of Crystal Peak Acquisition and Tobin Ventures Limited, as well as holding multiple NED and Chairman roles with progressive businesses in the datacentre and technology industries, and have managed many successful exit strategies for organisations including; Pacnet, Itconic, Datapipe, and Basefarm.
