How did Noble Isle come to be?
When I created Noble Isle, I had a passion to produce something truly British – a British company, making products in the British Isles, sourcing ingredients from celebrated local producers. I wanted to promote and highlight what is happening in this country – amazing places, people, ingredients. The British ingredients have a wonderful local story, which adds layers to our brand.
During the creation of the brand, we travelled the length and breadth of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales to source authentic, quintessentially British ingredients that celebrate our rich cultural history. Our sumptuous lotions and washes feature extracts sourced from celebrated local producers, including rhubarb from Yorkshire, sea oak from Ireland, barley from Scotland and beetroot from Wales.
Noble Isle is a strong, proud British brand. The designs are contemporary and modern, but we have not forgotten our past or our heritage. We are grounded, rooted and inspired by our land, culture and history.
What is the inspiration behind the name?
Naming is the most emotive part of creating a new brand or business. I was looking at many different directions and then one night, my sister (our former marketing director) and I went to the China Diner in Beaconsfield, and, over a bottle of wine, paper, pencils and an iPad, came up with the name.
Noble Isle was the first term used for Great Britain in the 15th century by kings and queens and our “coat of balms” shows the four flowers that represent the great countries within the British Isles. The name captures the essence of the brand.
What is your long term vision for the brand?
Noble Isle is a small, niche, discovery brand, found in exceptional places – department stores, hotels, airlines and restaurants. It is really vital to the brand and its future to keep our distribution small and exclusive – to remain precious.
We are a British company using British ingredients, so it’s really important for our integrity to keep our manufacturing in the UK for all our products, both retail and hotel. This is unique to Noble Isle as many of our competitors make their amenities in the Far East.
All of our fragrances are fine fragrances, with top, heart and base notes. We worked with a top nose in the industry to create proper perfumes for our products. It is therefore natural progression for Noble Isle to launch Fine Fragrance in 2021. Since the beginning of the brand, our customers have always asked us to develop this new area as they love the emotive fragrances. It’s a very exciting launch for Noble Isle.
Why is Home Grown a good partner for Noble Isle?
When I was creating the brand, I did quite a lot of work at Home House as my PR agency had a membership there. I remember being inspired by the historical designs in modern settings – the perfect mixture and balance of taking old ideas and making them contemporary, with new furniture and accessories. This is the design concept behind Noble Isle, so when I was invited to tour Home Grown, I was so impressed by the design and ethos that I thought it would be magical partnership.
Home Grown is also a wonderful partner for Noble Isle because it supports independent businesses and entrepreneurs – that is exactly what we do at Noble Isle. We work with a multitude of celebrated producers around the British Isles to create our products. It is fantastic to work with Home Grown who share the same vision and ethos.
Noble Isle’s range of shower gels, lotions, shampoos and conditioners can be found around the Home Grown’s amenities and bedrooms.
